Weekly returns: the wagering condition I look for first
Start here. Every eligible stake from your settled sports bets counts towards it, winners and losers alike, and the money turns up on the same fixed day each week. On one small bet it’s next to nothing. Spread across a week of qualifying turnover, though, it builds — and it doesn’t need you to have had a bad week to pay out. Whatever comes back is plain cash with no further wagering attached, which over a long New Zealand winter of weekend rugby is worth more than it first looks.
Casino cashback is a bit more involved. It’s tied to your loyalty tier: roughly 5% of weekly net losses at the base level, climbing towards 11% higher up, with a small return on every play thrown in at the very top. Usually there’s no wagering on that either. Back on the sports side, two rules matter — bets settled at 1.00 don’t count, and qualifying bets need odds above 1.50. Conditions, yes. A job to do after the money lands? No.
And that’s the whole point for me. Plenty of bonuses show up with a fresh target and a clock already ticking. Here the qualifying bets are done and dusted before anything is paid, so all that’s left is the money itself.
Say NZ$2,000 goes through settled sports bets over a week, a few winners, a few losers. The return is worked out on that eligible settled turnover and paid on the fixed day. It’s a modest percentage — enough to claw back a slice of what betting costs you, nowhere near enough to call an income. Casino cashback follows the loyalty maths instead: the higher the tier, the bigger the share of losses returned, with rakeback included at the top.
Still read the sports terms, mind. Above 1.50 counts, 1.00 doesn’t, and the credit arrives by itself on the set day — nothing to claim by hand. Once it’s in, the returned amount carries no further turnover requirement.
One more thing before you fund the account: paying in with cryptocurrency switches off the casino bonuses, while the sports return sticks to its own conditions. It’s easy to pick a payment method purely for speed. Worth a second look at the bonus side first.

Choosing between the two welcome offers
At registration it’s one or the other — casino welcome or sports welcome, never both. On paper the casino package wins by a mile, NZ$2,900 against NZ$220. Read the wagering, though, and plenty of punters in New Zealand would be better off with the small one.
Casino welcome: up to NZ$2,900 + 150 spins
It doesn’t arrive in one lump. It’s built from four deposits: 100% up to NZ$600 on the first, 50% up to NZ$700 on the second, then 25% up to NZ$800 on each of the third and fourth. Spins come in batches of 30, 35, 40 and 45. Stack the caps and you get the advertised NZ$2,900 plus 150 spins — spread over the whole package, not paid in a single hit.
Now hold that up against the wagering. The cash bonus needs 35x on slots within seven days, so a NZ$600 bonus means NZ$21,000 of qualifying bets before you can withdraw. Read that figure twice. Slots count in full, most table and live games barely count at all, and while you’re clearing it the maximum stake is about NZ$10 a spin. If you already play at that sort of volume, it might slot in. If you play now and then, that’s a serious week of spinning between saying yes and seeing any of it.

Sports welcome: 100% up to NZ$220
Much simpler to size up. Your first deposit is matched 100% up to NZ$220, from a minimum of around NZ$4, with 5x wagering on accumulators — roughly a seventh of the casino multiplier. Accas carry their own risk, sure, and it pays to understand which tickets qualify, but the amount you have to put through is far smaller. None of this changes the local restriction on overseas sports betting, of course.

The amounts and requirements together
Here’s the whole lot in New Zealand dollars, side by side. Read the right-hand column first. The weekly return asks for nothing more, the sports offers ask for a little, and the casino offers ask for a lot — and a short deadline makes that gap feel even wider.
| Bonus | Value | Requirement |
| Weekly cashback | % of turnover / losses | None |
| Sports welcome | 100% up to NZ$220 | 5x on accumulators |
| Friday reload (sports) | 100% up to NZ$200 | 3x in 24 hours |
| Casino welcome | Up to NZ$2,900 + 150 spins | 35x on slots, 7 days |
| Wednesday Cash Splash (casino) | 50% up to NZ$440 | 40x on slots, 7 days |
| Sunday Mega Bonus (casino) | 66% up to NZ$200 + 50 spins | 40x on slots |
| Game of the day (spins) | ~25 spins per day | 35x (unless stated) |
The word “free” switches a lot of brains off. Two assumptions in particular:
Two bonus claims worth questioning
| Myth | Truth |
| “A free bonus is free money to withdraw.” | Almost never. There's nearly always wagering to get through first — up to 40x on these offers. A bonus balance looks exactly like real money on screen, and plenty of people in New Zealand find out the hard way that it isn't, not until the wagering's done.
|
| “The bigger the bonus, the better.” | Not always. A smaller amount with easy conditions can be worth more to you than a big one buried under heavy wagering.

Which offer fits the betting you already do?
Decide what you were going to play before the promotion gets a say. What were you planning to bet on, and how much money and time had you put aside? Comparing the amounts takes anyone in New Zealand about ten seconds. Working out whether you’d actually finish the offer takes a bit longer.
If it’s sport, the welcome needs 5x and the Friday reload 3x, while the weekly return asks for nothing further on the money it credits. Casino players get the welcome package plus the Wednesday and Sunday reloads to weigh up, with 35x or 40x hanging over each. Those are very different commitments, and with the casino offers in particular it all comes down to how much you already play.
Time is usually where it unravels. Seven days sounds plenty until work swallows most of them, and the Friday reload gives you just 24 hours. Deposit, forget about the account for a few days, and the bonus can expire before you’ve finished. I’d rather skip a short-deadline offer than spend a week hunting for hours I never had.
Then there’s the stake. If clearing a bonus means depositing more or betting bigger than you’d planned, you’re paying extra to chase it — and that’s the point where it stops being a perk. The weekly return never does that. No wagering target after it’s credited, nothing extra to squeeze into the diary once the money’s in.
